Albert “Dammit” Horst and his wife, Vicky, are facing the toughest battle of their lives. On September 4, 2025, Albert was life-flighted from Monument Health in Rapid City to the University of Minnesota after suffering severe heart complications. He is scheduled for major surgery on September 16th to receive an LVAD (mechanical heart).

Albert will remain hospitalized and in recovery for several weeks, possibly until the end of October or longer, depending on how his body heals. During this time, he will be bedridden and under constant medical care. Vicky is by his side, but the couple must stay in Minnesota throughout his treatment and recovery.
