From Recovery to Roadblock — Albert Needs a Hand
Hi, my name is Albert.
I’ve come a long way in my life.
For many years, I struggled with addiction, alcoholism, and homelessness. I was in and out of jail most of my life. Four years ago, I hit a breaking point. I got arrested again for drugs and was facing serious prison time. Sitting in that jail cell, I finally asked myself—Is this how I want to live the rest of my life?
That moment changed everything.
I asked the court for help, and by the grace of God, they gave me a chance. I went into rehab at Lifetime Recovery in San Antonio, Texas. I spent three months there learning tools to stay clean, rebuild my life, and become the father my son deserved.
After rehab, I still had to serve 7 months for violating my probation. When I got out, I went straight into sober living. I had to learn how to live again—clean, honest, and free.
Now, I’ve been clean and sober for over 4 years. My son is back in my life. I married an amazing woman and have three beautiful stepdaughters who I love as my own. I finally have a steady career that I love, and I give back by sharing my story with others in recovery—hoping to give them the strength and hope they need.
But right now, I’m facing something tough.
A few weeks ago, while trying to take down a broken tree branch at home, I fell off a ladder and broke my kneecap. I won’t be able to work for 8 to 12 weeks. My wife works hard, but my income is needed to support our family and keep up with bills.
I’m not someone who likes asking for help, but right now, I need it.
Anything you can give—whether it’s a donation, a share, or just a prayer—means the world to me and my family. I’ve worked hard to build this life and I’m not giving up. I just need a little help to get through this setback.
Thank you for reading my story. May God bless you the way He’s blessed me—with a second chance I’ll never take for granted.
—Albert
