Hello everyone, my name is Luis Carbajal, and I am sharing the story of my father's journey. My hope is this story resonates with many of you, and we can rally to help support him during this critical time in his life. My father, Alberto Carbajal, is battling a very aggressive stage four colon cancer that has unfortunately spread to his lungs, liver, adrenal glands, and bones. It was found in late March of 2025 at this advanced stage. Unfortunately, this is his second recurrence of cancer and it has come back with a vengeance. His cancer is terminal, and we are unsure exactly how much time we will be given. Any treatments he has been receiving have been to buy him some time so he can finally enjoy his retirement for the remaining time on this earth he has left with his family. He has started to decline in recent months and has had five hospital admissions since December for his liver stent and recurrent infections.

My dad has worked tirelessly for 40+ years living away from his family in Mexico to work in the United States to provide for them. He became a United States citizen in 2013. He has been married for 40 years to my mother, Luisa, who is the light of his life. He has always dreamed of one day being able to retire in Mexico and enjoy his golden years with his wife. With these unexpected medical costs and crushing diagnosis, the financial burden has hit hard. His retirement savings he worked so hard for is now gone, and costs keep accruing. One of his biggest worries is making sure his wife is taken care of after his passing. My dad is a true example of what the American Dream was supposed to be. I am asking all of you to help in any way you can to help support his medical costs, and work to rebuild a safety net for his wife, so that when his time comes he can rest easy, and know she will be ok. It is time to show up for a man who has always shown up for everyone else in his life, ease his burden, and let him know how loved he is.
