In late February of this year, my dad received a devastating diagnosis: stage four cholangiocarcinoma, a rare cancer of the bile ducts. This news was a gut-wrenching shock for our family, as we had already lost our mom to cancer. The prognosis was grim—he was given 6-9 months to live.
As if that weren’t enough, his home was burglarized, and everything he had was stolen while he was in and out of the hospital. We had already planned to move him in with us to help with his care, but this heartbreaking event forced us to do it much sooner.
Between helping him replace his personal belongings, traveling from Carlsbad to Roswell multiple times a month for his chemotherapy and other treatments, and frequent hospitalizations, we found ourselves in an unforeseen financial hardship.
On July 21, 2025, my dad passed away peacefully at our home. He was surrounded by us and his grandkids. He fought with incredible strength all the way to the very end, and we will forever cherish the extra time we were given with him.
Now, we are faced with the expenses of a memorial service and honoring his final wish: to be laid to rest with our mom in Denver, Colorado. We are reaching out for support to help us cover these costs as well as travel expenses.
We have been working with the amazing and supportive team at West Funeral Home in Carlsbad, New Mexico. If you would like to contribute directly, you can do so for Albert Brim's cremation expenses. While this would be a huge help, it doesn’t cover the costs for a service or our travel. We are ready to close this chapter and begin the healing process.
As hard as it is to ask anyone for help in general, we truly thank you for your support and are incredibly grateful for any help we do happen to receive. All funds that may be left over after expenses will be donated to Brittany’s Hope through the Faith, Hope and Love Foundation.
