Support Alari's Critical Recovery Journey
Donation protected
On December 23, 2024, my 23-year-old daughter, Alari, was in a catastrophic motorcycle accident that changed our lives forever. She suffered a right cerebral stroke and a thoracic spinal stroke caused by a torn aorta. She is now paralyzed in both legs and her left arm, and every day is a physical, emotional, and financial battle.
Her injuries include:
•Right cerebral stroke
•Thoracic spinal stroke
• Paralysis in both legs and left arm •Shattered pelvis
• Fractured ribs
• Collapsed lung
•Internal bleeding
• Multiple surgeries
• Upcoming surgeries on both knees ($20,000)
•Total loss of independence
Right now, Alari cannot even go to the bathroom on her own. Her left arm is still too weak to transfer herself safely. She requires 24/7 care, and I’ve had to step away from full-time work to be her caregiver. I work part-time just to keep food on the table—but I have no one to help care for her or transport her the days I’m working, which causes her to miss vital physical therapy and doctor appointments.
The only silver lining we hold onto: Alari’s doctors believe she will walk again. She is already showing signs of improvement—but she needs the right therapy, surgery, equipment, and time to heal.
Abandoned When We Needed Him Most
To make matters worse, her father—my husband of 23 years—has walked away from us. He asked for a divorce and is leaving for Mexico to “start over,” abandoning Alari emotionally and financially in the most critical time of her life.
• He no longer assists with her care
• He was self-employed and underreported income I was told I’d need a forensic accountant to uncover his real income—something I cannot afford
• Based on what he reported, I’d only receive $250/month in alimony, and he’s leaving the country
• He’s pressuring me to sign papers to keep finances private, which would cut me out of any fair share of the house
We’re Fighting to Keep Our Home
I’m trying to rent out my master bedroom just to help pay the mortgage. Our home is the last secure place we have—and the only safe space for Alari to heal. If we lose it, we will be homeless. To help our situation, I’ve also started selling household items on Facebook Marketplace when I can, just to cover small expenses. I'm doing everything in my power, but it still isn't enough.
Where Your Donations Will Go
We are humbly asking for $105,000 to help keep Alari safe and on the path to recovery:
•$30,000 – Medical bills (past, current, and upcoming)
•$28,800 – One year of in-home caregiving assistance
• $20,000 – Bilateral knee surgeries •$5,000 – Bathroom modifications for accessibility
• $20,000 – Mortgage support for one year
•$1,200 – Basic living needs (food, supplies, essentials)
How You Can Help
Please donate – any amount truly helps
Please share Alari’s story – spreading the word means everything Please keep us in your prayers – your support gives us strength
This is the hardest season of our lives, but we believe in Alari’s strength and healing. With your help, she can recover, regain her independence, and walk again one day. I just want to give my daughter the chance she deserves.
Thank you for your compassion and your heart.
With love and gratitude, Sara Daghbas (Mom) & Alari
