Saludos, mi nombre es Ida Reyes y estoy haciendo un llamado de ayuda para el príncipe de mi vida mi hijo Alan. El fue diagnosticado con diabetes tipo 1 el año pasado. Desde ese momento los copagos de las 2 insulinas que utilizan, lancetas, tirillas, alcohol, gasas, monitores continuos de azucar, entre muchos otros los hemos sufragado realizando un sin numero de ajustes a nuestro presupuesto. Sin embargo, hemos llegado a un punto donde debido a la inestabilidad de la azúcar y los episodios de hypoglucemia y azucares sobre 300mg/dL hemos tomado la tarea de educarnos y hemos identificado que Alan se beneficia de un perro de asistencia médica. Hemos logrado adquirir el perro pero sus gastos de entrenamiento rondan los $25 mil dólares. Cifra que se nos hace imposible sufragar. Al tener un perro de alerta/servicio Alan tendria un monitoreo continuo y una asistencia en casos de emergencia. El perro alertaria de niveles de azúcar que están cambiando rápidamente tanto altos como niveles bajos para una intervención temprana y prevenir complicaciones como cetoacidosis o coma diabético. Los equipos médicos fallan y también en algunas ocasiones no llegan a tiempo por correo. Es por esto que un perro de servicio es un excelente recurso para salvar la vida y el bienestar de nuestro guerrero Alan. Cualquier ayuda es bien recibida. Ninguna donación es muy pequeña. Since then, we've covered the co-pays for the two insulins he uses, lancets, strips, alcohol, gauze, continuous blood sugar monitors, and many other expenses by making countless adjustments to our budget. However, we've reached a point where, due to unstable blood sugar levels and episodes of hypoglycemia and blood sugars above 300 mg/dL, we've taken on the task of educating ourselves and have identified that Alan would benefit from a medical assistance dog. We were able to acquire the dog, but its training costs are around $25,000, a figure we find impossible to afford. By having an alert/service dog, Alan would have continuous monitoring and assistance in emergencies. The dog would alert him to rapidly changing blood sugar levels, both high and low, allowing for early intervention and preventing complications such as ketoacidosis or diabetic coma. Medical equipment fails, and sometimes it doesn't arrive in time by mail. That's why a service dog is an excellent resource to save the life and well-being of our warrior Alan.
