Support Alanna in her fight against Leukaemia
Donation protected
I am reaching out to share the story of my incredibly kind, brave and resilient best friend, Alanna, who at 28 years old is currently battling Leukaemia.
As many of you know, in January of this year, Alanna lost her dad, Michael, better known to the Lennox community as ‘Stokesy’ from prostate cancer. Now she is facing a huge and unexpected fight of her own against Leukaemia. Doctors have said this cancer is not hereditary and rather is a case of bad luck.
This comes as such shocking news to all those around Alanna. In the last few months Alanna has been preparing for a marathon in November, working hard as a tipstaff in the Supreme Court of New South Wales and living a very fun, vibrant and active life in Bondi with her partner, Jye and friends.
Alanna visited the doctors on Monday last week for a headache and follow up blood test. On Wednesday, she was admitted to emergency, and by Friday, Alanna received the diagnosis.
Alanna has been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, which, while aggressive, doctors believe that with treatment, she has a strong chance of reaching remission. She has begun the first of many rounds of chemotherapy this week which sees Alanna unable to leave hospital for the next month. It will be during this time that we learn more about her path ahead and the next steps of her chemotherapy journey. Her treatment will continue across the next 5-6 months.
Alanna is incredibly strong and determined, but she needs our support during this difficult time. Having recently lost her father to cancer, this news weighs heavily on her and her family. The emotional and financial challenges ahead are significant, and we want to help lighten that load. Every donation, no matter the size, truly makes a difference. Your generous contributions will assist with medical expenses including fertility treatment and preparation for the high probability of a bone marrow transplant and rent assistance. Your generosity will also mean that her support team can be there to care for and accompany Alanna and will provide accommodation and flights for Alanna’s mum to go back and forth from Lennox Head to Sydney.
Thank you for supporting Alanna as she commences a very difficult and unexpected kind of marathon.
Let’s get Alanna back on the dance floor asap for a Brat 2025 summer.
Lots of love, Chloe.
