Support Alana's Fight Against Parkinson's

Three things define my family. We are proud Americans. We are proud people of faith, and we are proud members of the law enforcement and firefighting families. Now we are asking those communities for desperate help.

Those who know Alana Rathbun know her as the caring mother of not only her family but her extended family as well. That is, the countless friends, friends of her children, Cal-Tech students, neighborhood children, fellow members of the Jewish community, the men and women of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and members of the law enforcement community at large - that she has cared for, supported, nurtured, and advocated for her entire life.

Now Alana needs our help. Suffering from ever-advancing Parkinson's disease has robbed her of her vitality and physical mobility. Alana is undergoing an experimental treatment for Parkinson's using stem cells, which has the potential to give her decades of quality life—chasing grandchildren around her yard, loving her devoted husband of 43 years, Dave, and continuing to bring joy and strength to her community at large.

Such is the cost of treatment that Alana and Dave are preparing to sell their home of 40 years to pay for this life-altering treatment. Alana has given so much as a mother, wife, grandmother, friend, mentor, and advocate. Now is the time to give back to her.
