For those of you who may not be able to see the clip and/or would like to be more caught up to speed on the situation; My brother was involved in what is now being deemed a hit-and-run. Sunday night around 9-10 he was headed home after working on detailing customer's vehicles all day. Only 5 minutes down from our complex. A man ran across a 5 lane road, where my brother was in the furthest right lane. I can say without a doubt in my mind that this was a complete accident and that my brother's only fault was panicking in the moment and not allowing himself to think through his actions after the impact. We're all imperfect in this world, and just as any person that loves their mother does. His first thought was to run to his mother. So he came home to hug my mom and tell her what happened. He paced the kitchen, cried and asked to the sky "why!?" "How!?" And "what the fuck!?". After all my brother is the last person to get in trouble. My whole family knows he would never be the one in trouble.

My brother is so much more than just that word. He is a father to a beautiful young lady. A son to a patient, warm and loving mother. He is an entrepreneur. A provider. A fighter. A survivor. He has been an image of strength my whole life. My brother has survived some of the toughest battles I have seen. He has been battling diabetes for the last 4-5 years. In those years he has lost 2 of his toes. In that time he also suffered an accident at work that cost him another toe. With that settlement he finally saw an opportunity to pursue his passion for detailing vehicles. He bought his van and had been trying to make it detailing in the last year. Unfortunately a lot of health complications arose from that accident that have made it very painful and somedays impossible for my brother to work in such a physically demanding job.

We've had very little communication with my brother since he's been in jail. The only time my mom got to speak to him, he had let her know he is now with a hold for immigration bracelet on. We come to you today asking for help funding a lawyer so that we can attempt to get him the least possible sentencing so that he could just do little time and get deported back to Mexico sooner.

Para quienes no puedan ver el video o quieran estar más al tanto de la situación: mi hermano estuvo involucrado en lo que ahora se considera un atropello con fuga. El domingo por la noche, alrededor de las 9 o 10, se dirigía a casa después de trabajar todo el día detallando los vehículos de nuestros clientes. A solo 5 minutos de nuestro complejo, un hombre cruzó corriendo una carretera de 5 carriles, donde mi hermano estaba en el carril más a la derecha. Puedo afirmar sin lugar a dudas que fue un completo accidente y que el único error de mi hermano fue entrar en pánico en el momento y no permitirse pensar en sus acciones después del impacto. Todos somos imperfectos en este mundo, como cualquier persona que ama a su madre. Su primer pensamiento fue correr hacia su madre. Así que llegó a casa para abrazar a mi madre y contarle lo sucedido. Se paseó por la cocina, llorando y preguntando al cielo: "¿¡Por qué!?" "¿¡Cómo!?" Y "¿¡Qué demonios!?". Después de todo, mi hermano es la última persona en meterse en problemas. Toda mi familia sabe que él nunca sería el que estaría en problemas.

Mi hermano es mucho más que solo esa palabra. Es padre de una hermosa joven. Hijo de una madre paciente, cálida y amorosa. Es emprendedor. Un proveedor. Un luchador. Un superviviente. Ha sido una imagen de fortaleza toda mi vida. Mi hermano ha sobrevivido a algunas de las batallas más duras que he visto. Lleva cuatro o cinco años luchando contra la diabetes. En esos años, ha perdido dos dedos del pie. También sufrió un accidente laboral que le costó otro. Con ese acuerdo, finalmente vio la oportunidad de dedicarse a su pasión por el detallado de vehículos. Compró su furgoneta y durante el último año ha estado intentando que se dedique al detallado. Desafortunadamente, a raíz de ese accidente surgieron muchas complicaciones de salud que han hecho que sea muy doloroso, y a veces imposible, para mi hermano trabajar en un puesto tan exigente físicamente.

Hemos tenido muy poca comunicación con mi hermano desde que está en la cárcel. La única vez que mi madre pudo hablar con él, le había avisado que ahora tiene un brazalete de inmigración en espera. Hoy acudimos a ustedes pidiendo ayuda para financiar un abogado que nos permita intentar conseguir la sentencia más corta posible para que pueda cumplir una condena corta y ser deportado a México antes.
