No parent ever expects to hear the words “your child has cancer.” However, just a couple of weeks after our daughter turned 4, we were faced with a new reality. Our daughter Alaira was diagnosed with stage 3 Wilms tumor, a kidney cancer that primarily affects children, and she is fighting back with everything she has.
The good news is that Wilms tumor is treatable, and with the right care, children who are diagnosed go on to live full, healthy lives. Alaira is brave, strong, and she is not fighting this alone. The road to recovery and remission is long and difficult, but her team of doctors, nurses, friends, and family make a world of difference.
Having already gone through a successful surgery to remove the tumor, Alaira now faces the tough road of chemotherapy and radiation treatments.
If you’re able to donate or spread the word of Alaira’s journey, it would mean the world to our family. Anything received will help cover medical bills, transportation, and also anything to help make hospital visits and stays more comfortable for Alaira.
