Support Alaina's Fight Against Leukemia

Hello, my name is Stephen Fatica. I am a Project Manager at Great Lakes Automation Services. I am reaching out on behalf of one of our employees, Mike Gray, who informed us that his 6-year-old daughter, Alaina, was diagnosed with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. This news has shocked Mike and his family along with everyone at Great Lakes Automation Services.

Alaina enjoys arts and crafts, books, riding her 4-wheeler, being outside, and helping out with her dad. This family does as much as they can together, whether it is hiking, kayaking, riding ATVs, or days at the pool and beach.

This diagnosis is heartbreaking to receive, especially with the current challenges Mike faces operating as a single dad. He also has a son, Isaac, who is a type 1 diabetic with partial hearing loss. His other son, Jreem, is diagnosed with Usher Syndrome and is completely deaf and will potentially become completely blind. His oldest daughter, Whisper, is a healthy honor roll student and star athlete who enjoys wrestling and basketball. She is Mike’s biggest support system now and will be asked a lot to help support this family as Alaina goes through treatment.

Alaina has begun treatment as of January 2025, and if all goes as planned, the Gray family will be making weekly trips to Pittsburgh for chemotherapy treatments for 6-8 months and then transition to doing treatments at home and fewer visits to the hospital for the next 2.5 years.

Mike is determined to do everything to keep his family together and provide the best lives possible for his children. It is going to be difficult for him and his family to provide an income while going through this process with Alaina. Traveling back and forth to Pittsburgh while juggling all the other kids' needs and staying on top of bills and responsibilities will be challenging. This will forever change and impact their lives, but Mike knows his family is strong and will stick together and get through this.
