Update Feb 18, 2026:
A sincere thank you to those who supported Alaa Abu Safia last year with her continuous moves inside Gaza to escape bombardments and easing some of her physical, emotional, and financial burdens. Since our last update, Alaa is expecting her second child (due April 2026) and is in desperate need of financial help to survive on a daily basis, not knowing if they will have a roof over their head (her monthly rent is due very soon). Food is also difficult to purchase with high prices. Alaa is expecting her second child soon and needs immediate help not only with daily expenses of rent, food, utilities, but also her medical expenses to safely bring a new child into the world. On top of that, when borders open, she along with her 1 year old boy, her second expected child, and her injured husband (who has sacrificed his health by delaying removal of several shrapnels from his own body to save expenses), plan to make a hijra out of Gaza into Egypt for which they will need funds. Please help Alaa during this difficult time by donating any amount you can. Alaa is Zakat eligible and you can multiply the rewards of your zakat by donating during the sacred month of Ramadan. May Allah reward you and grow your provisions. Ameen.
Assalaam Alaikum, dear family and friends! I am raising funds for a dear friend of mine Alaa Abu Safia from Gaza. On one dreadful day, her house was bombed and she lost all 5 of her siblings and her 1 year 8-month old baby boy Adam. Her mother later succumbed to injuries and burns and passed away. Alaa, who was 2-months pregnant at the time of bombing, herself suffered burns and injuries but survived. Alaa's husband still has many shrapnels in his body which could not be removed due to lack of medical facilities and operating surgeons. Alaa is constantly being displaced due to danger of bombings. In fact, at the time of publishing this campaign, Alaa, along with her baby boy Omar (she was pregnant with Omar at the time of bombing), her immobile husband and her elderly father is trying to escape the bombing in North and West Gaza and heading South in an effort to stay alive. Please help Alaa and her now small remaining family so they can sustain life, buy food for the young baby and family and help them purchase a tent in South Gaza so they don't have to endure harsh weather by staying and sleeping in the open. Spread the word too, I am making a personal plea! Any and all contributions help.
All donations made via GoFundMe come to me first. I then transfer them into my PayPal account and do a PayPal-to-PayPal transfer to Alaa in Gaza. I’ve already been helping Alaa via PayPal transfers for the last several months.
Personal message from Alaa:
I am a mother who lost everything… and I am trying to survive again. My name is Alaa, from Gaza — a mother who once dreamed of a peaceful future for her child, surrounded by a warm family.
But in just one moment, everything changed. The ones I lost… they are not numbers. In a sudden airstrike on our home, I lost my entire family:
My baby Adam (1 year and 8 months old): He never stopped laughing. Every morning he would run to me saying, “Mama, I love you.” My mother Maryam (48): Kind-hearted, gentle, and noble in every way.
My brother Imad (30): An engineer, about to get married. Always smiling, full of life. My sister Lina (22): A recent law graduate, she dreamed of defending the oppressed. My brother Mohammed (20): A talented web and mobile app designer, ambitious and always striving to improve himself. My brother Ibrahim (18): A high school senior, passionate about studying medicine — the war killed him before he could even begin. My brother Yazan (13): The youngest, still in school, he filled our home with joy and laughter. These are not just names… they were my little world, my warmth, my strength in life. I survived, but with a wounded body and a soul weighed down by destruction.
Today, there is no home… no place to start from.
Since the bombing, we have no real shelter, no resources.
Hunger is worsening, prices have become unbearable, and the threat of occupation and forced displacement in Gaza hangs over us every day. We live only with the hope of surviving — nothing more. There is not enough food, no clean water, no basic necessities of life.
And fear… still lives inside us. Please consider donating, any amount helps. Please also share this campaign. A single word, or even reposting, can make a difference. Your donation or support… is a light for a mother in Gaza trying to live again after all this darkness.
Thank you,
Alaa Abu Safia
