I am a Captain of the Edisto Volunteer Fire Department and on the afternoon of December 18th, we hear on our fire radios the call that no firefighter or person wants to hear. Our Fire Chief Al Drawdy was on the radio saying, “My house is on fire”. We respond and find half his house is on fire. We were able to put the fire out but not before it caused major damage to his home. He and his wife Lynne have sacrificed so much time and effort for our department (that is volunteer) and community over the last 20+ years that I believe in his time of need that we should give back. They are both grandparents and a lot of the damage was in the rooms they had set up for when their grandchildren were at their house, a lot of the items in the rooms were damaged or lost due to water and smoke.
