Al Aki has dedicated his life to helping others find balance, strength, and peace through Tai Chi, with more than 25 years of teaching experience. After years of training in Judo and Aikido, Al discovered Tai Chi’s unique ability to improve awareness, well-being, and self-confidence. He teaches Tai Chi at the Dr. Phillips YMCA and at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, where he is also an active member and devoted community supporter. His classes have become a source of healing, connection, and encouragement for many. Al is especially passionate about helping people prevent falls, reduce blood pressure, and improve their quality of life—particularly those facing memory loss or other health challenges. He firmly believes in the power of mindful movement, and his gentle guidance has touched countless lives.
In recent years, Al has endured unimaginable loss. He and his beloved wife, Vicki, shared a lifetime together and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, only for her health to decline rapidly soon after. Following a long illness, Vicki passed away this year, leaving Al with overwhelming medical bills and funeral expenses. Tragically, Al has also lost both of his children, who had special needs—his daughter passed away in 2023, and his son passed away last year. Al now finds himself alone in a home that urgently needs repairs.
The toilet, kitchen sink, shower, roof, garage door, and sliding glass door are all in disrepair. These issues must be addressed before Al can downsize to a smaller, more manageable townhouse. With so much loss and so many challenges at once, he is struggling to regain stability and peace.
Your support can make a meaningful difference in Al’s life. Donations will help cover medical and funeral expenses, fund critical home repairs, and support his transition to a safer, more manageable living situation. Please consider helping Al during this incredibly difficult time. Your generosity can provide hope, relief, and a path forward as he works to rebuild his life.
Tentatively Funeral Service Saturday March 7th 10AM @ St Luke's United Methodist Church.
