On Saturday, June 21st, our beloved nephew, son, and brother Akil Searcy was tragically shot during a domestic dispute. He is currently fighting for his life at Atlanta Memorial Hospital, in critical condition and paralyzed from the neck down.

This devastating turn of events has shattered our family’s world. Akil is a bright light — full of love, dreams, and kindness — and now he faces an unimaginable battle: the road to survival, recovery, and adjusting to a new way of living.

At his bedside every day are his devoted mother, Sherita Carthon, and his loving sister, Aalayah Searcy, who refuse to leave his side. As you can imagine, the emotional toll is heavy, and the financial weight is only growing.

Akil’s long-term medical care, therapies, and adaptive needs

Temporary housing, food, and travel costs for Sherita and Aalayah as they remain in Atlanta to care for him
