Our world has been shattered. Since June 11th, our son Akeem has been hospitalized. He is suffering from AML (acute myeloid leukemia) and he is only 23 months old.

Akeem loves trucks and cars, boats and planes -- anything with an engine. Such an adventurous little boy, he usually spends his days in the park climbing and playing with other children. Now he is confined to the hospital, fighting to recover.

It all started with a runny nose and some coughing. Mommy made some soup thinking it would pass soon enough. But it was not a flu or a cold. After bringing him week after week to different medical clinics, the doctors eventually told us Akeem suffered from AML, a type of cancer. Cancer. No one  tolerates this word. Big. Invasive. Dangerous illness.  8-12 months in hospital.

As his parents, we must be with him.  Daddy (Newton) took an unpaid leave of absence from work and Mommy (who is disabled from a car crash in 2008) stays by Akeem’s side in the hospital. But now the bills and medical expenses are piling up. We need your help.
