Akayha Persinger is an 12-year-old who has recently been diagnosed with stage 2 brain cancer after months of unexplained hospital visits. Her mother, Sarah Persinger, has been by her side every step of the way, doing everything she can to support Akayha through this incredibly difficult time. The diagnosis has brought a whirlwind of emotions and challenges, and the family is now facing a new reality filled with hospital stays, doctor visits, and a complex medication schedule.
Recent MRIs have revealed that, in addition to the cancer, a piece of Akayha’s brain on the left side is deteriorating and the cells around it are dying off. This has led to early childhood dementia, adding even more complexity to her care and daily life. Akayha is currently taking 11 different medications three times a day, and unfortunately, two of these essential medications are not covered by insurance. The costs are quickly adding up, and Sarah has had to miss work to care for her daughter, making it even harder to keep up with mounting medical bills and daily expenses. The family is doing their best to stay strong, but they need help to ensure Akayha gets the treatment and care she needs.
There is currently no cure for Akayha’s condition, and doctors have shared that her life expectancy is about a year to a year and a half. Your support will go directly toward covering Akayha’s hospital stays, medication costs, and helping Sarah manage the financial strain of missed work. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a real difference for Akayha and her family as they fight through this challenging journey. Thank you for standing with them and offering hope when it’s needed most.
