On June 4th Celina and Anthony took little AJ to their family doctor as he was complaining of constant headaches with pain leading to consistent vomiting. He was referred to Winchester ER to have imagining done. The CT scan came back showing a brain tumor and the doctor suspected a craniopharyngioma tumor. AJ was immediately transferred by ambulance to INOVA in Fairfax, VA. AJ had more imaging and the MRI showed the tumor to be about 2.5 inches big. Due to the size and location of the tumor, the neurosurgeon referred AJ to Dr. John Myseros at Children’s National as he specializes in these tumors. AJ was then transferred by ambulance to Children’s National in Washington D.C.
The neurosurgeon was able to successfully remove the tumor by performing a craniotomy on June 7th. Caused by the tumor, AJ has been diagnosed with a rare condition called Diabetes Insipidus. He currently remains in the PICU at Children’s National. AJ will have to take medication for DI, growth hormones that his body does not produce, and thyroid function.
We cannot thank everyone enough for praying for AJ. He is truly a one of a kind kid with a heart of gold. He knows how to make everyone feel loved no matter what. AJ will be turning 7-years-old this July and scored his first soccer goal on June 1st.
Donations will help ease the burden of medical bills as Celina and Anthony have not left AJ’s side during this unfortunate time.
