AJ York’s life changed dramatically after suffering severe blood clots during his sophomore year of high school, which led to major surgery and a long road to recovery. Since then, AJ has been unable to walk without assistance, play sports, attend school, or enjoy the everyday activities most teens take for granted. Recently, after months of uncertainty, AJ’s new adult neurologist diagnosed him with a spinal cord injury. The damage is permanent, and instead of preparing to graduate high school and head to college, AJ is now starting therapy at Shirley Ryan to adapt to his new reality.
The York family is facing overwhelming medical bills while doing their best to ensure that AJ can receive the best care possible. The past two years has placed a tremendous emotional and financial strain on the family, who are doing everything they can to support AJ’s recovery and future.
Your support can make a difference for AJ and his family. Every donation will help cover medical expenses, therapy, equipment, and travel costs, giving AJ the best chance at adapting and thriving despite these challenges. Please consider helping the York family during this difficult time—your kindness and generosity will mean the world to them as they navigate this new chapter.
