We’re Rebuilding - Here’s How You Can Help
On June 21, we celebrated our grand re-opening, expanding Vintage Hair Co. into a space filled with love, laughter and dreams.
Two weeks later, our salon was gone.
Completely devastated by the historic flooding that hit Kerr County on July 4th, we lost everything:
- Salon equipment: washing station, styling chairs, shears, clippers, blow dryers, washer/dryer
- Supplies: professional color, treatments, shampoo, conditioner, styling products, towels, capes
- Furniture: client chairs, mirrors, stylist stations, waiting area seating, desk, shelving
The estimated loss totals $35,000 and does not include the loss of income AJ is facing during this time of recovery and rebuilding.
While we have been working hard to figure out next steps, we have been inspired by the grace, love and generosity shown to and by our community. We are working out ways to keep serving you, our amazing clients, while figuring out the long road ahead to rebuilding Vintage Hair Co.
So many of you have asked, “How can we help?”, here are some few ways that will have direct impact:
- Donate through this official GoFundMe
- Gift Cards: Home Depot, Lowe’s or Visa Giftcards (The Visa gift cards are helpful for purchases made from companies that require a Cosmetic License to shop them)
- Support our Amazon Wishlist: Vintage Hair Co Wishlist
- Follow and share our Facebook page: Vintage Hair Co My goal is to hit 2,000 followers, and your likes, shares, and support mean everything as we rebuild our presence.
We sincerely want to thank all of you have reached out looking for ways to support us and we wanted to offer a safe and direct way to help AJ, Anyssa and Vintage Hair Co. begin to restock, rebuild and return to what they love most: making people feel beautiful.
Now, a few words from AJ herself...
A Letter from AJ
Hi friends,
On the morning of July 4th, I tried to get to my salon but couldn’t make it through the flooding. Feeling unsure of how my business was doing but realizing this was going to be a major event, I reported to the Ingram Volunteer Fire Department to help my community. I had no idea at the time how major it would be, lives, homes and business, all lost.
That evening, after a long day at the Fire Department, I was finally able to go see the shop. I can’t even describe the pain of seeing everything gone, after pouring everything I had into reopening just weeks before. Shortly followed by the guilt for feeling heartbreak over losing my business and after talking firsthand with those that lost or were missing loved ones.
But even in the overwhelming grief over the losses both in our community and for myself, I’ve been equally overwhelmed by love. I’ve received calls, texts, hugs, prayers and endless support from my family, friends, clients, fellow stylists and complete strangers.
If you know me, you know asking for help is not easy. I also know there are a lot of people who are in need of help but after encouragement from friends and clients who have asked, “What can we do?”, I wanted to offer a direct option for those who want to help.
I am committed to rebuilding. I deeply desire to stay in Ingram. And I believe with my whole heart that we will come back better, stronger and more grateful than ever.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you to my family who has lifted me every single day. Thank you to my friends and clients who feel more like family than ever. Thank you to the salon owners who’ve offered chairs and supplies. Thank you to my IVFD family for being my safe place through the storm.
You all are the reason we’re not giving up.
Stay with us. Share our story. Support how you can. Let’s rebuild Vintage Hair Co. together.
With love and gratitude,
~AJ
