My name is Kristine and I would love for you to donate any amount to help Aimee get a new wheelchair. Aimee is my mom’s good friend. She is a former nurse around the CSRA forced to retire early due to ALS. Here is her story..
We never know what tomorrow may bring.
On May 9,2022, my life changed completely. Just three days after I turned 50, I was diagnosed with ALS or Lou Gehrig's Disease.
After working as a nurse for over 20 years, I understood what this diagnosis meant.
For a long time, I wasn't sure if I wanted to see tomorrow. Then I realized I had a lot of life yet to live.
I refuse to let my diagnosis slow me down. I still work in my garden, I've become an avid painter, and I I love to travel. I especially enjoy hiking!
My wheelchair cannot keep up with me. Standard chairs aren't equipped to climb mountains, but that hasn't stopped me from trying!
I've overcome so much because of the role you have played in my life. You've helped me get through dark days-- and to realize that my diagnosis will not stop me from leading the best life I can live.
Initially, my doctor told me I would not live to see 53. I've beat those expectations, and I intend to keep on living!
Before I reach 55, I want to get a new wheelchair-- one that will give me more freedom and more mobility. But my insurance won't cover these costs.
I'm trying to raise enough money to buy an all-terrain wheelchair. You have helped me to get through so much already! If you are able to help me with this cause, I would eternally be grateful.
I may not know what tomorrow will bring me, but I do know tomorrow will be great.
