Support Aimee through her Chemo Journey

Hi, my name is Candice and I am Aimee’s sister in law. Aimee is too proud and independent to ask for help but I know anything we can raise to help them get through the challenging months ahead will be beyond appreciated. All funds raised will go directly to Aimee and her young family.
Let me tell you a little of what Aimee’s life has been over the past several years:
After battling with endometriosis throughout her early 20s and symptoms that evolved into extreme fatigue, vision and speech difficulties, limb weakness and severe and persistent headaches Aimee was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and underwent treatment for this throughout 2023- only to come to the conclusion that treatment wasn’t working. Aimee was persistent in advocating for herself and had countless more MRI’s, lumbar punctures, CT scans and blood tests and finally in March of this year she underwent not one but two brain biopsies only two weeks apart as there was the consideration that she had a brain tumour. Results confirmed she has a very rare and serious condition called Central Nervous System Vasculitis (CNS Vasculitis).
CNS Vasculitis is the inflammation (swelling) of the blood vessels in the brain and spine. CNS vasculitis is a serious condition because the inflamed vessel wall can block the flow of oxygen to the brain, causing a loss of brain function and ultimately strokes.
Fortunately, treatment is available and will hopefully put the condition in remission. However treatment will be long and have a huge impact on Aimee and her young family.
Aimee has already needed to stop work to protect her health and currently cannot drive following her brain biopsies. Far from the life her and her husband had imagined in their first few months of marriage (yes they only got married in Nov of last year)!
Aimee has commenced the initial stage of treatment known as induction therapy. Here high-dose steroids are administrated with other immunosuppressive medications - for Aimee this additional medication will include a minimum 6 month cycle of chemotherapy. Immunosuppressive medication may then be required for a prelonged period - for some people, this can mean for life.
Due to the nature of Aimee’s work in childcare and her current symptoms she is unable to continue working for at least the next 6 months. Cost of living is extremely difficult on everyone at the moment but any funds raised will go towards the already piled up medical expenses, daily living expenses that Aimee’s wage would normally cover and if at all possible to cover some small moments of joy for them as a family as they try to get through this challenging time.
Thankyou for reading this far and donating to this beautiful family ✨
