My Testimony: Run Your Race for AIM Missions

“In January of 2014, I was diagnosed with stage IV lymphoma and given a 15% chance to live. My journey through cancer was filled with uncertainty and challenge, but through faith, perseverance, and the support of my loved ones, I reached remission. This year marks 10 years since that diagnosis, and I am grateful every day for the life I’ve been given. My experience as a survivor has deeply shaped my passion for supporting others facing similar battles. That’s why this fundraiser is so important to me, and why my journey with AIM Missions has been transformative. I’ve had the privilege of attending all three AIM Missions events, and each one has left an indelible mark on me. Through these experiences, I’ve become a stronger man of faith, a better leader for my family, and a servant in God’s kingdom. AIM Missions has shown me the power of vulnerability and community, and I am forever a better man for those around me. As a declaration of my thanks, I want to use this 100-mile race as a way to give back and support the same mission that helped me become who I am today.”

Why Run Your Race?
“Run Your Race” is an event inspired by the mentorship of Pierce Showe and Steve Weatherford, who have been guiding lights in this journey. Their leadership in combining fitness, faith, and kingdom-building has been a powerful influence. Over the past year my running Coach Pierce has been setting me up to Run my Race. Through this race, I aim to carry that message forward—running not just for myself but for all those who have faced life’s hardest battles, including cancer survivors like me. This event on December 6-8th on 1-mile loop on a farm outside of Austin, Texas prioritizes what matters most: family, faith, and the kingdom of God.

The Power of AIM Missions
AIM Missions, a non-profit, founded by Doug Elks, has been instrumental in helping men like me find strength in vulnerability. Colton Reed and Daniel Wilson, two-time cancer survivors and leaders within AIM’s CORE TEAM, are pivotal to the vision. They understand the importance of community, brotherhood, and faith in overcoming life’s greatest challenges. Together, they’ve built a space where men are encouraged to be vulnerable—spiritually, mentally, and physically—so they can take up their cross for Jesus, their family, and those around them.

Family at the Heart of It All
This race is not just my journey; it’s my family’s as well. They will be joining me in the “Run Your Race” event, supporting me every step of the way. As we run together, we will prioritize family, faith, and kingdom—values that have always been at the center of our lives. This race is a testimony to the power of faith and the importance of surrounding yourself with those who uplift and encourage you to run your race in life.

How You Can Help
