Hello Family, Friends, and Community,
My name is Crystal. My daughter Ailyn applied to race in the Emerging Elite 1 Mile at Nike Outdoor Nationals in Eugene, OR. The qualifying mark to get into the Emerging Elite 1 Mile race is 5:07. Ailyn has a current personal record time of 5:09.43. It was a toss-up if she was going to be accepted or not. She just found out today (6-5-25) that she was ACCEPTED. A short time later, an email was received that she was moved to the CHAMPIONSHIP division based on her performance. This is a highly competitive meet, and kids from all over the country come to participate.
Ailyn has been entered under the school, but when she asked about funding from the school for lodging, food, and gas, she was denied and was told only WIAA-sanctioned meets would be covered (this meet is not WIAA-sanctioned). With that being said, we would like to raise $1000 for expenses. This meet will be a great experience for her as well as great exposure.
UPDATE: 6-18-25. Things have been constantly changing and unfortunately Ailyn ended up not getting into the championship race but will still be racing in the emerging elite race. The race she is in will be at 11:58am on Sunday.
I also wanted to thank everyone who has donated and made this possible. It blows me away and brings tears to my eyes at generosity ya'll have. Thank you so so so much.
Some fun facts:
Ailyn is borderline on the school record for the 1 Mile set in 1979. The school record is 5:09.3, and Ailyn’s personal record is 5:09.43.
If they do a conversion on the 1 Mile to a 1600, she has another chance at a school record, which is 5:05 (on the board at school) or 5:06.20 (on athletic.net), and Ailyn’s current personal record is 5:07.64.
Thank you in advance for your support.
UPDATE: It’s free to watch. She will race Sunday, June 22 at 11:58 am.
