Support Aiden's Recovery from Surgery Complications
Donation protected
Aiden, was scheduled for what we hoped would be a routine ileostomy procedure due to his Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP). He was supposed to have a temporary colostomy bag placed, with the expectation of a quick recovery. Unfortunately, complications arose, and Aiden is now enduring his third hospital stay in just a few weeks.
Currently, Aiden is admitted in Denver, where he recently underwent a revision surgery following the initial procedure. He has also had a PICC line placed and is receiving TPN nutrients to help him regain the nutrients and weight he’s lost—about 20 pounds in less than a month. Our goal now is to help him regain his strength while we wait for his ileostomy revision to heal, with hopes of completing the original planned surgery once he’s stabilized.
This journey has been incredibly hard on Aiden, but also on our family. Kari recently had a baby and was on maternity leave, scheduled to return to work at the beginning of August. However, due to Aiden’s unexpected complications, she has had to extend her leave to stay by his side and make the difficult decision of choosing between financial obligations and being a present mother. Her FMLA and PTO are now maxed out, and is unsure how the upcoming bills will be taken care of now that her pay options are maxed out while caring for Aiden during this difficult time.
As a mom, she hates to ask for help, knowing that so many are struggling, but she’s reached a point where she doesn’t know where else to turn. Going from a two income family - suddenly down to one- has its effects as you can imagine.
Your support would mean the world to their family as they navigate these unforeseen challenges and making sure she can remain by Aiden’s side during his recovery.
Thank you for taking the time to read their story and for any help you can offer, whether it’s a donation, sending positive thoughts, or simply sharing this page.
