Hello, my name is Aidan Kim, and I’m an international student from South Korea studying Materials Science and Engineering at The Ohio State University. I came to the U.S. seeking better research experience and the hope of building a better future, but living here alone—far from family, friends, and home—has not been easy.

In the midst of this emotional and cultural loneliness, I met a little soul who changed everything: a stray rescue cat I adopted and named Captain. She became my anchor during the hardest times—curled up beside me during sleepless nights, purring on my chest when I was on the edge of burnout. She's more than a pet to me; she's my emotional support, my little family, and my reason to hold on when everything else feels overwhelming.

A few weeks ago, Captain got into an unfortunate accident, resulting in her losing her right eye. The diagnosis required urgent surgical intervention, medications, and intensive follow-up care. The cost of her treatment has reached over $4,000, which I had no choice but to pay using my credit card—already maxed out from school expenses.

I’m reaching out, not just for financial help, but to keep hope alive—for myself and for Captain. I know times are tough for everyone, and it’s never easy to ask for help. But any contribution, no matter how small, would mean the world to me. Even just sharing this page could make a difference.
