There’s no better reason to break one’s internet silence than to do so out of respect and admiration for another. Or in this case, solidarity. I’ve not felt called to make any grand announcements lately until I learned of a great injustice that is happening right under our noses.

For the first time in a long time, I’m compelled to get involved in the drama of another’s creation, in order to stand with and stand up for one of all of our most stand-up of friends, Aidan Rolfe.

Aidan is currently incurring a massive amount of legal fees defending himself against a questionable lawsuit. The plaintiff seems unorganized and unqualified to represent themselves, but, that could matter little in today's litigious society if Aidan couldn't afford proper counsel which, BTW, he can't. Who among us saves up for the occasional lawsuit? Aidan has a great attorney who's been having to work hard to make sure justice prevails, and with that hard work just comes more bills.

Nobody should ever have to pay attorney fees just for speaking candidly and in good faith to protect the safety and security of our community members. That’s exactly what our guy Aidan has been doing. Let’s all give what we can and see him through this process and beyond.

We estimate that a minimum of $6,000 should cover most, if not all of his legal fees, even though his initial $3k retainer is gone and then some.

Since the road ahead is still unclear and subject to the many ins and outs of the legal system, every last dollar counts. Let’s fill his coffers and make sure Aidan isn’t left holding the bag on this one. Standing up for the community is one thing. Having to pay for the right to do so just isn’t fair. In the event that the case is dismissed or ends with a surplus of funds, the remaining balance will either be donated to a non-profit advocating for victims of domestic violence, or used to throw a benefit for such a cause to give back to the community.

Please, join me in standing up for Aidan and his right to free speech. May all of us use that right while we have it to protect what is sacred within our beloved community and beyond.

Bless up!

Joshua
