Hello! My name is Ryen, and I am an American student who used to live in Jordan and had the privilege of becoming good friends with Ahmad. Ahmad and I are fundraising for his family and neighbors who are all living in Jenin, West Bank, about 5 minutes away from the Jenin Refugee Camp. His family house contains his mom and dad, and his brother lives on the second floor with his wife and his 4 children: a 7-year-old daughter, a 5-year-old son, a 3-year-old son, and a 4-month-old son.
His father and brother are fence planters for landowners. Their work is already seasonal, but with the escalation of violence against Palestinians in the West Bank, their work has become increasingly dangerous, and for the last several months, they have had no source of income. A law has been issued by Israel that allows soldiers to pull the trigger on anyone they find suspicious doing anything on land. Because of this, their work itself became highly dangerous, and they are unable to do so safely without fear of being shot. At present, the family does not have the bare minimum to be able to get the bare necessities for everyone in the family.
Their neighborhood is the second most affected area after Jenin Camp, with many assassinations and bombings in their neighborhood on a regular basis. Bulldozers have already demolished almost all the neighborhood’s streets and blocked the entrance of their street with rubble, destroying electricity and water supplies any time it’s been fixed there. A short while ago, bulldozers demolished their house’s wall and gate, and it’s exposed to the street now, which makes it an easy target for snipers. The children have not been able to leave the house as a result. The remaining walls of the house are incredibly unstable due to continued bulldozer activity hitting the walls, and they fear it will collapse.
We are raising funds to help them rebuild the gate and outer wall of their house, which will hopefully allow the kids to more safely be able to go outside. We are also raising funds for electricity, food, and water that have become increasingly inaccessible and expensive. Finally, the family will be using this money to support other families in their network and neighborhood who are also food and water scarce at this time. All funds will be transferred directly to the family.
Thank you so much for helping support Ahmad's family <3
