Mother, wife, daughter and sister. No matter the hat that my wife Agnieszka wears, she does so with grace and generosity.
Two years ago she went in for a checkup. During this checkup the doctor announced that they had found cervical Cancer. Early stages the team of doctors assured her. Still a terrifying and devastating diagnosis to every person and family it touches, our reaction was no different.
Following the advice of her medical team, she dove right into the medical machine. Diligently following her team’s instructions she endured radiation 5 days a week, chemotherapy once a week and internal radiation once a week. If you’ve been around this disease, you know the toll it takes. Her strength and grace pushed back the doldrums of unknowing, lifting our spirits and showcasing grit and determination.
Sweet relief came when the scans showed no tumor, full remission and eradication of the cervical Cancer! A congratulations and well wishes for a wonderful summer were given. All too soon. Two months later, something wasn’t right. Agnieszka felt low energy, pain, and unease began creeping into our glorious summer. A trip to the emergency room and a callous announcement of “Well it looks like the cancer is back” shattered our joy. Back into the medical machine.
This is where you join our family. Now nearing year three and her third chemotherapy drug. Time feels more precious, her grace and strength still pushing back at the doldrums of unknowing. You find me at my most vulnerable, brave face hiding terrors.
The medical machine pushes us to the brink of a precipice. I only ask that you donate what you will not miss.
Thank you to each and every one of you. May God keep you and hold you dear.
