Please support Agnes in continuing on her path to complete an MSW and give back to the community! Agnes is an inspiration - a strong woman, a loving single mother, a full-time student, and a domestic violence survivor. As an immigrant herself, she serves the immigrant and refugee population through her job at Jewish Family Services and hopes to continue growing her career and skills to support others. Please see Agnes' letter below.
Dear wonderful community,
I hope you are doing well. I feel blessed to have finished my first year at Smith College, where I learned so much from so many amazing people! I’m writing to express my gratitude for your unwavering encouragement and generous support of my earning a Master of Social Work (MSW).
On June 2, 2025, I start my second summer semester. I’m reaching out once again to ask for your help. Unfortunately, I cannot cover my school tuition and living expenses during the summer while I am taking my classes. As a single mother and a full-time student, I am unable to work during this 2 ½ month period. I hope you will consider helping me to raise the $6,000 I need to cover my expenses through August 2025. Some dear friends have offered to match up to $3,000 raised. Any amount you’re able to contribute would make a tremendous difference.
Your continued generosity helps me pursue my education and inspires me to strive for excellence and give back to my community. I’m deeply committed to using my MSW to serve disadvantaged and oppressed communities, and your support plays a critical role in making that possible. Thank you once again for your kindness and belief in me. I am profoundly grateful and look forward to updating you on my progress.
With deep appreciation,
Agnes Umutesi
