Hey everyone ♡
I’m still recovering from a serious car accident in July 2022 that almost took me out. Walking hurts, sitting up straight for long periods is a struggle, and my body keeps throwing new issues at me. Since that day, I’ve been locked in on healing-- all I want in the deepest core of my heart is to get back dancing, especially breaking and krumping!! The recovery has been up and down. I had a few wins-- I walked more, danced and traveled a bit, but every time I rise, I hit a new wall. New issues presenting themselves, new health puzzles to solve, and its back to my bed. I’ve spent so much time stuck in my bed, it’s lonely. My mental health isn’t doing great this year and it’s hard to function sometimes. It also takes a lot of effort, time, energy, and money to continue my recovery. Unfortunately, my finances are at the point where I’m starting this fundraiser. The car accident settlement was nowhere near enough to cover my recovery, and I didn’t expect it to take this long.
I think the medical system has failed me and made my healing time take longer than it needed to be (no shock there). I’ve seen 7 PTs and so many doctors. It’s been really hard to find a good PT. Now I have 2 PTs I finally trust – one for my hip/leg/shoulder and the other for a different issue. But of course – neither of them take insurance, and Medicaid doesn’t cover out-of-network providers. PT is $100-165 per visit. On top of that, I also have to see an EXPENSIVE doctor ($1000-1500 per visit) all the way in Bethesda that doesn’t accept insurance (after trying other options). And I had to get 2 PRP injections which are also very expensive and not covered by insurance ($700 each). Not to mention the cost of medication not covered by insurance and other therapies like massage, scar/adhesion treatment, acupuncture, supplements, and cryotherapy, which I’ve spent tons of money on.
I’m giving some of this fundraiser to my friend who hasn’t been able to afford wisdom teeth removal because it’s not covered under their dental insurance. (They prefer to remain anonymous, but they are also a dancer.) They’ve been dealing with jaw pain because of it and it even caused a cavity. This surgery needs to be done asap, so I hope we’re able to help them. The cost for it “starts at $2500.”
Thanks for your support! Even if you can’t donate anything, I really appreciate you caring and taking the time to read all of this. And thank you to everyone who has supported me in this whole journey. It can feel lonely at times, but I know I’m not actually alone. I feel very grateful to be where I am today. And I always hold on to hope! I’m not giving up.
Much love to everyone ♡
