I’m sharing this to be transparent about a situation I recently went through and to ask for support if you’re able.

I’m an international student, 27 years old, and I moved to the U.S. to pursue my goal of building a better future through education. I’m about to begin nursing school, which is something I’ve worked really hard for. As an international student, the cost of tuition and living expenses is already significantly higher, so I’ve been very careful about saving and planning.

Recently, my car was involved in an accident where it was totaled after being struck by a police vehicle while it was parked outside of my house. I filed a claim expecting the related costs to be covered, but it was ultimately denied.

Because of that, I had to pay over $5,000 out of pocket for towing, rental, and storage fees. This was an unexpected setback, and it forced me to use money I had set aside for school.

I’m currently working toward replacing my vehicle so I can continue balancing work and school, but doing so means stretching my finances even further. I created this fundraiser to help offset part of this loss and to avoid falling behind as I start this next chapter.
