On Sunday, January 4th, 2026, my life changed in an instant when wires in the attic caused an electrical house fire, causing extensive damage to my home. The unknowns ahead are frightening, and while I have lost a great deal, I am deeply grateful to be alive and able to share my story with you. I am beyond grateful that my daughter picked my Glams up a day early—otherwise, they would have been in the house too! THANK YOU GOD!

I am also grateful that my two dogs, Roxy and Peanut, escaped unharmed, but I cannot say the same for my fish. RIP to all my Mollies, two Algae eaters, and Mr. Opie Finn'again.

If you know me personally or know me through JAVA or have been following my journey since the passing of my 23-year-old son Chris in 2020, it will be of no surprise to you when I say, Chris's sign was on a ledge above the couch where I was sleeping. That area of the house visually appears unscathed... I choose to believe that Chris protected me.

In moments like these, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, but I am holding onto hope, my faith, and the support of my family, friends, colleagues, and community.

This journey will be a long one. I have enough clothes and essentials to get me through, and I plan to return to work as soon as I can. However, there are many day-to-day living expenses and needs that remain uncertain. Your support would bring me peace of mind as I navigate this difficult time and work to rebuild what was lost. I am thankful for every message, every offer of help, and every bit of kindness that has come my way.

It’s ok to not be ok, and it’s ok to ask for help—even when it feels uncomfortable. I am usually the one donating to others, but now I find myself in need. If you’re able to contribute or share my story, it would mean the world to me. And please, take a moment to check your smoke detectors and install carbon monoxide detectors if you can—your safety matters. Thank you for reading, for caring, and for being part of my support system.
