Help Family Who Lost Everything in Marshall Fire

Donation protected
Katie, Michael, and their one-year old baby, Piper, lost everything in the Marshall Fire in Superior, Colorado. They were not home at the time and had no way of saving anything. They lost their house, car, and all of their personal belongings.

Yesterday, on December 30, 2021, I watched the news in horror as the Marshall Fire burned down hundreds of homes in the Superior/Louisville, Colorado area. My brother (Michael), sister-in-law (Katie), and niece (Piper) purchased their very first home in Superior last year and have been so excited about growing their family there. Today, on Piper's first birthday, they received confirmation that their house was completely destroyed in the fire. Instead of celebrating Piper's first birthday and the New Year, this family is shattered and scrambling to figure out how they are going to piece their lives back together after this sudden loss.

For anybody who doesn't know them: Michael has spent the vast majority of his career in the non-profit sector, raising funds for those who have experienced devastating losses and injuries. Katie is a special education teacher who works with young children. Piper is extremely close to taking her first steps, and when I visited Colorado just a of couple weeks ago, she was happily crawling all around the house.

Katie and Michael's siblings (Ann, Brett, Tommy, Shelby, and I) have decided to set up this page in hopes of being able to assist this young family financially while they are displaced and trying to rebuild. We know that this will be a long and expensive journey for them, and are doing everything we can think of to help them from afar (from Chicago & Alton, Illinois). All funds we raise will go to Michael, Katie, and Piper for their financial needs.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for any type of support you are able to provide my brother's family as they try to manage this horrible situation. I know that not everyone is able to contribute, so please know that emotional support, positive vibes, direction to resources, and advice/guidance in navigating this type of situation is equally welcomed and highly valued!

Sincerely,
Amy Schiller-Neustedter ("Amy Neu" aka Michael's sister)
