I walked out Monday morning, after a weekend in bed with a stomach bug, ready to begin my commute. Except my car wasn’t there. Despite the sinking feeling in my stomach, I walked around the complex thinking maybe I just parked somewhere weird and didn’t remember in my illness-induced haze. I already knew the truth. The car was gone. Stolen.
In the process of making calls and finding a temporary vehicle and all of the things that come with getting your car stolen, I also fell on the ice. Fortunately, I only experienced minor injuries, but shattered my phone in the process.
Also fortunately, my car was found. However, it suffered extensive damage including broken windows and serious damage to the ignition that insurance will not cover. I also have to pay impound/storage fees, as well as likely replacing a lot of what was in the vehicle, including prescription cat food and luggage. In addition to being my primary transportation, I also use the car for my second job delivering food and have lost this source of income until repairs can be made, leaving me unable to pay some expenses. This has all happened in the same 3 days time span, so I am asking for help in covering these repairs so I can get back on the road and cover some of my losses after this particular string of bad luck.
(Photos of damage pending recovery from impound. In the meantime, have the cat who got his prescription food stolen.)
