Support Afghan family get to safety

Since the US withdrawal from Afghanistan, we (Roxanne, Larisa, Paula and Jessica) have been working with an Afghan family to help them apply for humanitarian parole (HP) as volunteers with ANAR (Afghan Network for Advocacy and Resources)." Humanitarian Parole allows individuals or families who do not yet have a visa for admission into the United States to enter the United States for a temporary period of time for urgent humanitarian reasons. Once in the United States, they can apply for asylum or other forms of humanitarian relief.

 

The father of the family we are supporting worked with the United States Embassy. He and his family are now in grave danger of retaliation by the Taliban and in desperate need to flee Afghanistan. The family has received many death threats, threatening to kill the entire family. They are currently in hiding.

 

They are urgently seeking to come to the United States. Unfortunately, the US is not processing HPs for families who were left behind in Afghanistan because the consulate in Kabul (where these applications are processed) has been permanently closed. The father is also eligible for another visa (Special Immigrant Visas for Afghans or SIV), which he had begun processing prior to the fall of Afghanistan. If he or his family could get to a neighboring country, they could try and sort out both options in hopes of getting to the United States. This family's situation is further complicated by the father's inability to travel due to a stroke he suffered recently.

 

We are reaching out to see if you could help us raise funds for the family to travel to a neighboring country and additional cash to support their living expenses and to care for the father in Afghanistan. We plan to transfer the collected funds to the family via Western Union.
