Support Afghan Family's New Start in Lancaster
Donation protected
Help us welcome an Afghan family of 6 to Lancaster, PA! They are arriving Sunday, April 6th
A group of local volunteers are sponsoring this refugee family through the organization No One Left Behind to be resettled in Lancaster in April 2025. The program supports our Afghan Allies who are Special Immigrant Visa Holders (SIVs). This means they likely aided US govt/military or an NGO in some way in Afghanistan and that’s why they are particularly at risk. We will be assisting this family in areas such as housing and welcome, health, education, transportation, ESL, jobs, and cultural orientation.
Please consider donating financially to help us support this family in their first few months in Lancaster. Your donation will help cover the cost of rent and utilities until they are able to find jobs and become self-sufficient. Because of all the cut programs, there are no funds from the government or via Church World Service for this family.
While we have most of their physical needs covered, we are still looking for more permanent rental housing for their family of six (2 adults, 4 children) and would appreciate any leads in that regard. If you would like to volunteer with other needs such as transportation, school registration, jobs, or English classes, please reach out to me (Melissa) at the contact button below.
UPDATE: We are asking that all future donations be directed to our refugee assistance fund set up via Akron Mennonite Church. All donations are tax deductible and you can donate at this link.
