Awarded the prestigious King's Award for voluntary service in 2025

AFC Urmston Meadowside is more than a football club. We are 84 teams, around 1,200 players, and over 240 volunteers. We are girls and boys, pan-disability players, open age teams, coaches, parents, grandparents and friends. We are a community.

Now we have a once in a lifetime opportunity to transform what we can offer our children and young people.

The Challenge We Face

For years, we have battled the same problem every winter.

Waterlogged pitches.

Training cancelled from October to February.

Teams squeezed onto a third of a pitch for limited training facilities in Trafford.

As we continue to grow, we face a choice:

We have chosen to be ambitious for our community.

The Opportunity

We have the chance to build a new 4G all weather pitch at Lees Field, our home.

This pitch would:

The Football Foundation is prepared to invest into this project because they believe in what we do. They have already backed us with early funding because of our reputation, our inclusivity, and our impact.

But we must raise our share.

What We Need

The total project cost is around £1 million.

The Football Foundation will fund the majority.

We need to raise £130k as our contribution.

As a club, we are already committing significant funds. We are applying for grants. We are approaching businesses. We are working with consultants to unlock every opportunity available. We already have some money raised, but we need to do a bit more.

But we cannot do this without you, our community.

Why This Matters

The five year old having their first kick.

The teenager who finds confidence through football

The child who needs structure, belonging, and positive role models

The player who might otherwise be turned away

We build teams of all ages and abilities all from the Urmston area.

We keep well over a thousand young people active, connected, and off the streets. We promote physical health, mental wellbeing, teamwork, and resilience.

Football is the vehicle. Community is the outcome.
