Hello, my name is Marisol. I am writing this on behalf of my sister Adriana. For those that don’t know, my sister is a fighter. She is one of the strongest women I know. She has endured pain and suffering, undergoing many abdominal surgeries in her fight against Crohn’s and ulcerative colitis. She is two years into her proctectomy and is finally experiencing enjoyment in her life beyond continued hospitalization.

This past Sunday, 10/26, I received a distressed call from my brother-in-law, Edgar, that my sister was a victim of a car accident. As she was in a crosswalk, going to the grocery store, she was struck by a pickup truck. Adriana’s right foot took the majority of the impact as she suffered a severe injury requiring the skin of her foot to be surgically reattached.

We are thankful for the quickness of pedestrians, first responders, and physicians for the promptness of her care. Adriana is alert and well, and she is currently admitted receiving intravenous antibiotics. Unfortunately, she is in extreme pain and suffering. We are unsure whether she will sustain long-term damage at the moment.

Adriana and Edgar just purchased their first home. This accident couldn’t have happened at a worse time. If any of you have it within your heart to help assist in her time of suffering, it is most deeply appreciated. We understand that it is hard times for the majority of our friends and families. Asking for help is hard, but we are grateful for anything as we navigate through her journey of healing.

Update: Adriana has been released from the hospital and is currently at home. She is still in a lot of pain at the moment, and is unable to walk. We will see if she is able to be fitted into a walking boot to help facilitate her healing, when she sees her physician this Friday.
