For many years, I’ve dedicated my life to supporting others throughout the East Bay. Such as working with at-risk youth in cannabis prevention, serving as a paraprofessional, volunteering in my community, and even grooming dogs at a local shelter to help animals in need. I’m also a musician, creativity has always been a huge part of how I connect with others and the world around me.
Over the past two years, my life has taken an unexpected and difficult turn. I’ve been in and out of the hospital with severe, debilitating back pain, still without clear answers. Because of this, I’ve had to step away not only from the work I love, but also from my education, something I deeply value and hope to continue again one day. Losing these parts of my life has taken a serious toll on both my physical and mental health.
In October 2024, I lost my grandfather, my biggest supporter. Not long after, I found a small puppy in my driveway. I adopted him and named him Bruiser, and he’s brought light and comfort into my life during one of my darkest times.
Now, I’m preparing to make a life-changing move to New Zealand, a place known for its strong healthcare system and support for newcomers. This decision hasn’t come easily, but it represents hope for healing, stability, and a fresh start. I also hope to continue my education there and rebuild the future I’ve had to put on hold.
Starting over in a new country on my own is incredibly challenging, and the costs are overwhelming, especially with my beloved Bruiser by my side. I’m asking for support to help cover essential expenses, including Bruiser’s surgery, travel costs, visa and residency fees, transportation, housing deposit, groceries, and other basic needs as I transition.
Any contribution, no matter the size, truly makes a difference. If you’re unable to give, sharing this message would mean the world to me.
