Support Adrian Luca Torres' Road to Recovery

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Sammie Torres, and I started this GoFundMe for my son, Adrian Torres. In May 2024, Adrian graduated from high school at 17 with a bright future ahead. But soon after his 18th birthday, an event changed his life forever.

On Friday, October 25th, 2024, I received a call from a good Samaritan who notified me that Adrian was involved in an accident and was run over by a car on his way to work. I frantically raced to the scene of the incident where all of my worst fears as a parent began to set in. I was met by law enforcement who told me he was being rushed to the nearest trauma center but they couldn't tell me what state he was in.

When my wife and I were allowed to see our son, we found him laid out on the gurney in a horrific state. It was an unsettling sight to behold and tore our family to pieces. We were removed from his room shortly after arriving as he began one of the biggest fights of his life while we helplessly watched the ER trauma team work diligently to stabilize him. The screams he made in that room will forever be etched in my mind.

After several hours, he was stable enough for us to be by his side as we could do nothing but watch him and shed our tears. We were informed that Adrian suffered from 2 broken ankles, a compound fracture to his femur, a broken pelvis, 6 broken ribs, and a broken collarbone. He was also covered in road rash.

After the 6 hours it took to address his most dangerous injuries, he was transferred to ICU where he continued to experience unstable blood pressure, an elevated heart rate, and low oxygen levels. The next day he had surgery to address the femur to help stabilize blood loss. Two days later, he underwent the second surgery to fix the ankles, pelvis, and collarbone. For five hours, we anxiously waited to hear the results of the surgery. The surgery was successful; however, they also found that there were torn tendons in his left ankle, which would extend his already lengthy recovery time.

During his post-op recovery, his vitals were all over the place. His temperature fluctuated significantly, his blood pressure continued to run high, and oxygen levels low. He was as pale as a sheet with a noticeable lack of color from the lips. It was later identified that he required a blood transfusion to stabilize his condition.

He is currently stable and working on limited mobility with the hospital physical therapy team while only being able to use one arm. Aware of the road ahead of him, he struggles daily to find the motivation to push through and endure the physical and emotional pain.

We are asking for your help in paying for any extensive hospital and rehabilitation bills. Please, if you can donate, share this within your network, and/or keep our family in your thoughts and prayers. I will keep everyone posted on his progress as it continues.

A little bit about Adrian:

He comes from a military family, being born in Naples, Italy yet ironically dislikes pasta. He first attended school in Yokosuka, Japan, and has since had an interest in Japanese culture. An avid gamer, he learned to love gaming from an early age. He has a passion for animals, and his closest companion is his dog Shelby. He has a desire to become a pastry chef someday. Adrian has truly grown into a wonderful young man. He is very intelligent and as loyal as they come.

Thank you for reading and supporting him on his path to recovery.
