Hello I'm Velshonna Luckey. I'm raising money for my dear friend who calls me her "Big Little Sister." I first met Adrena Bethany when she interviewed to intern for a youth program, I was the director of. After her internship she applied for her oldest granddaughter to join the program. Fast forward all 4 of her grandchildren participated in the youth afterschool program. During that time we became great friends.

Adrena's current need for final support goes all the way back to 2018 when her doctor did her first knee surgery, which was an epic fail and he ignored the infection that developed after the surgery. She could have filed a lawsuit, but was told if she did she'd likely never find a doctor willing to touch the problem. Fast forward Ms. Adrena has had FOUR knee surgeries. Sadly, while waiting to have the last knee surgery, she put extra pressure on the opposite foot and ankle causing great damage.

This month my dear friend is going in for her 5th surgery to reconstruct her foot and ankle. AND AS WE KNOW, sometimes when it rains it pours : ( Just last week the heat went out in her car. I'm sure you can imagine the many bills and struggles that have piled due to having so many days off work over the years. She told me this is the last surgery she will ever have. Each surgery has required the use of strong antibiotics and recovery seems harder and harder. This surgery will require 12 weeks of recovery and no weightbearing activities : (

The money you give will go towards helping her pay for her monthly health, dental, and car insurances. It will also help with her car repairs (thankfully someone gave her the car in 2022, and it is fully paid off, but it's old). The dollars will also help pay for groceries and other essentials while she is recovering. If we raise more than she needs, I will buy gas cards to help her once she gets back to driving.

I adore Adrena and if not for her support, I'm not sure how I would have gotten through some very dark days during 2022-2024. My personal hope, beyond your support, is to take her on at least one fun trip, during our shared birthday month. She hasn't had the opportunity to travel much. Just a few bus trips. (I'm not sure she's been on a plane.) Being in her late sixties I want to help her see and experience things she's not had a chance to enjoy.

If you know Adrena, you know she's spent a lot of her life caring for others, even in the face of great personal challenges. So I want us to have some great fun to celebrate surviving so much. I pray all of this hope we have for her will tremendously lift her spirit!
