Hi, my name is Kristan, and I’m reaching out during one of the most difficult seasons our family has ever faced.

My husband, Adem, was recently hospitalized with a serious lung infection and has since been diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer. He is currently undergoing cancer treatment and has been unable to work for several weeks due to hospitalization, ongoing medical care, and recovery. In addition to cancer, Adem also has chronic kidney disease and complex cardiac issues, which have made this situation even more challenging.

While Adem does receive Social Security, the sudden loss of his ability to work, combined with mounting medical and living expenses, has placed our family in immediate financial distress. I am his primary caregiver, and right now our focus is on his health, treatment, and stability.

We have applied for financial assistance through cancer support organizations and are working closely with hospital social workers, but as many families experience, help takes time — and the bills do not wait. At this moment, we are struggling to cover basic necessities such as rent, utilities, transportation to medical appointments, and daily living expenses.

This GoFundMe is meant to help us bridge this gap during this critical period. Any contribution, no matter the size, will go directly toward keeping a roof over our heads, covering essential household expenses, and allowing us to focus on Adem’s treatment and recovery without the constant fear of losing our home.
