Dear Friends,
I hope this letter finds you well! My name is Adelynn Jenkins and in the spring of 2025, I applied and was accepted to a bible college called Ravencrest located in Estes Parks, Colorado. This is just one of the uncredited bible colleges of Torchbearers. These colleges are located nationwide, and all have similar forms of how they work. Ravencrest is an opportunity that not only teaches students about the Bible but sends them out on mission trips and to different outreach opportunities. Throughout the two semesters, they prepare students for those missions, as well as other ones farther down the road. This helps with growing a relationship with the Lord stronger, as well as building biblical knowledge.
Ravencrest would be an amazing opportunity that some, including myself, might consider to be once in a lifetime. However, I have struggled to surrender finances to the Lord. I’m beginning to learn that if God calls me somewhere, He will provide, and I’ve been praying for Him to help my unbelief. I’m also learning that I’m a person that doesn’t like asking for help, especially financial. It makes me utterly uncomfortable to say the least. God’s been humbling and checking my heart through that though. I’ve tried to save as much as I can, but I’m not yet fully funded for fall or spring semester since each semester is $6,000.
Throughout fall semester of 2024, I felt as if I was in a constant tug-of-war battle between worldly desires and what I truly wanted, which was a relationship with the Lord that held firm. This battle, as you can imagine, lead to disaster. During Christmas break, I finally set aside time to read my bible and Psalm 27:14 stuck out to me, “Wait for the Lord, stay strong, take heart, and wait for the Lord.” I realized how badly I wanted to live for God and not fall into the cycle of being a luke-warm Christian. I noticed how important it is to wait for the Lord during the difficult seasons and to stay strong in a relationship with Him through the hard times because He is a faithful God. After learning that from the first semester, I knew things needed to look different moving forward.
Obediently, I began to look for opportunities to serve and draw closer to the Lord. I began the next semester by applying at both Bluewater Covenant Bible Camp as a counselor along with Ravencrest Bible College as a student. I was hired at Bluewater and accepted at Ravencrest shortly after. Throughout this past year, God has been able to use not only my nursing skills, but also my story of how God moved in my life throughout my schooling. I’ve seen God move in my life when it comes to my relationship with Him and how He’s tried to guide me through specific situations. An example of that would be the LPN (Practical Nursing) program at Itasca Minnesota North. Nursing was not something I wanted to do but had felt called to it. Through that, God’s been able to use what I’ve learned for His glory.
As for Ravencrest, this has been a decision that’s hard for me to navigate through and want to make sure I am being obedient to what God has called me to do. I am asking for prayer that this is what God has called me to and, if you feel led, support to financially come alongside me in this journey. I completely understand if financial help isn’t an option, so prayer is always appreciated.
Thanks for reading this whirlwind of a letter!
