Hello, my name is Valerie Newman, and I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Adele Mossetty, the 17-year-old daughter of James Mossetty, who tragically passed away on August 30, 2025.
On that day, James was struck by a yellow taxi and dragged for several miles. The driver admitted he had been at the end of a 12-hour shift and claimed he did not realize what had happened. This sudden and preventable tragedy has left Adele without her father at such a young age, and our entire family heartbroken.
James was a father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend whose strength, humor, and resilience touched many lives. His loss leaves an unfilled void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
We are raising funds to help the family cover the unexpected funeral arrangements and a repast, allowing family and friends to gather, grieve, and celebrate James’s life and legacy. Donations will go directly toward funeral home fees, service costs, and repast expenses.
Any amount you can give will make a meaningful difference in easing the financial burden during this painful time and ensuring James receives the farewell he deserves.
