Addison "Addy" is an honor student who has always maintained A-honor roll, no matter what life throws her way. Attending a local school, she faced the typical distractions that come with being a teenager, but she never let them derail her academic achievements. Addy’s drive extends beyond the classroom—she decided to take up basketball, a highly competitive sport, at a late age. In her first year, she discovered she had a discorded meniscus, a birth defect, but refused to let it stop her. That same year, after her school season, she suffered a high-level concussion, preventing her from playing what should have been her first AAU season.
Her second year, in eighth grade, Addy led her team in scoring, rebounding, and steals, all while maintaining her honor status academically. Yet again, she faced adversity, suffering an ACL tear at the end of a successful AAU season. This injury carried over into her freshman year, which she missed entirely. Despite not having a full season since seventh grade, Addy never allowed her GPA to drop. She returned to AAU basketball after missing her freshman school season, earning honors at tournaments for her performance, even as she struggled to stay consistent. She made the decision to focus on AAU basketball, recognizing that local high school programs didn’t prioritize player development.
Through all these challenges, Addy’s resilience and determination have never wavered. Donations to this fundraiser will help cover professional physical therapy and high-performance treatment for her discorded meniscus, as well as AAU basketball travel and fees. Your support will help Addy stay conditioned for the sport she loves, and fuel her dream of playing basketball throughout college and becoming an MD specializing in Sports Medicine. Every contribution helps her continue her journey and inspires her to keep pushing forward.
