Addison is my 25-year-old daughter, and she’s been fighting Large granular lymphocytic (LGL) leukemia since 2015, though she wasn’t diagnosed until 2018. Her diagnosis came after three years of long hospital stays and uncertainty, and I’ve been her sole caregiver ever since. Through all the ups and downs, Addison has shown incredible strength and resilience. She’s developed into a caring, empathetic, smart, brave, and creative young woman, and our bond has grown deeper as we’ve faced this journey together.

Now, Addison is preparing for a bone marrow transplant at City of Hope, which is over 70 miles from our home. With traffic, it’s often a two-hour trip each way, and she’ll be in the hospital for up to 100 days. The costs of gas, lodging, meals, medical supplies, and other items to keep her comfortable and supported—like books, shows, and family visits—will be financially very difficult for both of us. We want to make sure Addison has everything she needs for her health and mental well-being during this critical time.

Addison has had much of her teen years and young adulthood stolen by this disease. Despite this, she’s become a loving, caring, selfless, supportive, wonderful and kind woman. This transplant is one of the hardest things she will go through, but it offers hope for freedom and a normal life.
