Hello! My name is Addison Fry, and I'm a senior Cinema & Television Arts student at Elon University. I am currently working on my BFA Thesis Film, called Deadbeat Boyfriend.

This short film tells the story of Anastasia, a young woman who feels as though she's dating a zombie--because she is. As keeping up a relationship with an undead boyfriend grows tiresome and Anastasia begins to form a growing bond with Sam, a cute girl from her class, she must choose whether to stay in a dead relationship or move on and try something new.

This story is a metaphor for compulsory heterosexuality, which is "the theory that heterosexuality is assumed and enforced upon people by a patriarchal, allonormative, and heteronormative society" (Wikipedia). In the film, we follow Anastasia as she realizes that her relationship with Alex, a man, is not working, and that it is Sam, a woman, who truly makes her feel alive and in love. Based on my own experiences with love and identity, I hope to make an impactful, romantic, and funny film.
