Hello! My name is Adeline Leveridge. I know it's online, but I'm pleased to meet you!

To introduce myself, I am a University of North Texas transfer student from Austin Community College, passionately studying Geography for Environmental Science. I am also working on certificates of Sustainability and GIS, a minor in English Writing & Rhetoric, and am a member of the Honors College. Additionally, I am active in the Geography Student Association and Bee Campus/BECUSA, recognized nationally!

I recently received the great news that I was accepted into a study abroad program for 6 weeks in Kyoto, Japan, this summer! I am beyond excited, but unfortunately unable to pursue this huge goal of mine without additional help paying for airfare (~$1,500) and tuition ($6,900) toward the program. If you could spare even just a coffee's worth of cash, I would be BEYOND grateful!

As a Geography major, I am equally invigorated to learn of and dedicate my career to aiding the natural world, as I am the world of humans. Deeply rooted and unique cuisines, arts, customs, fashion, and even subtle vernacular are just as strikingly beautiful to me as the mountain ranges, forests, beaches, and tectonic activity of a particular place. By traveling, thereby broadening my scope of distinct groups of people, species of plants, and animals, I get the opportunity to break from any flat or one-dimensional views, to instead grow in understanding the world through hands-on experience. Kyoto, Japan will most profoundly impact me and my future career goals as a chance to immerse myself in studying the Japanese language, environmental protection, and physical geography of a country I have long been enamored with.

Japan has always seemed so far, and now I am the closest I've ever been to the chance of not only visiting but studying abroad! I thank you for your time in reading this, and even if you are unable to donate, sharing my story would mean so much to me and your generosity does not go unnoticed! :]
