As you all know, Adam has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and recently has gone through intensive treatment with a new drug. He was injected with a newly approved FDA drug. This drug could have had deadly outcomes, but in many cases, has shown amazing results. We nervously put him in the trial and hoped for the best. He spent the last few months quarantined in his room. He wasn't allowed to go out, see friends and family, or even get a hug from us. We have now gotten through the worst of it and are patiently waiting to see how his muscles react.
We are lucky enough to be going on a small trip to San Diego in June, but I wanted to extend the trip and surprise him. I want to take him to Disneyland and see Los Angeles. I also want to show him the desert and camp one night at Joshua Tree National Park. He has always wanted to see Disneyland and camp in the desert. After all the pain and grief he has had to go through this year, I would love to give him this gift.
Lastly, most Duchenne boys can’t move around on their own by the time they are teens. Adam is still mobile, mostly on his own, and rarely needs his motor scooter. I want to do this trip for him, while he physically still can.
I am unable to pay for the trip and am asking friends, family, and anyone out there to support this cause.
